Following the confusion this week which began when Hennessey claimed that the Venom GT was the fastest production car in the world. Arguing that the speed limiter topped the current title holder, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport to a speed of 258 mph (415 km/h) though the Bugatti hit a top speed of 267.8 mph (430.98 km/h) in 2010 with with the speed limiter removed. Guinness World Records then quickly stripped the Veyron Super Sport of its title and then could not confirm the Hennessey Venom GT’s top speed of 265.7 mph (427.6 km/h). Just yesterday Shelby SuperCars (SSC) Founder Jerod Shelby announced that the SSC Ultimate Aero was again the fastest production car in the world with a top speed of 256.14 mph (412.22 km/h).
